South Carolina Homeowner Fights Intruders: Protects His Motorcycles with Gunfire
A homeowner in South Carolina was recently forced to take matters into his own hands when suspected robbers made a bold move to infiltrate his domicile. Evidently, the burglars had a specific interest in his garage, seemingly aiming to make away with his motorcycles.
Horry County’s finest were alerted to the incident just shy of 4 a.m. late last week, with their destination being a property nestled off Green Sea Road. Their involvement was triggered by a burglary at the aforementioned location, a report from WMBF-TV highlighted.
Interestingly, one of the alleged perpetrators remains a mystery. Details concerning the third suspect, including their identity, are blurry at best.
As per the report by the police, the homeowner’s garage served as the main point of interest for the assailants. Their apparent plan was to make off with his motorcycles. The alarm was triggered when the band of robbers disturbed the tranquility of the garage.
Thanks to a timely alert on his phone that detected the unwelcome movement, the homeowner was able to confront the burglars. In the face of danger, he opened fire, forcing the suspects to beat a hasty retreat, WMBF-TV shared.
Roderick Bell and Dimitrious Murray, the two apprehended suspects, had no choice but to abandon their vehicle and flee on foot. However, they were soon tracked down by a dog team. Both Bell and Murray, each 27 years of age, now find themselves facing burglary charges. As of Thursday morning, both men were still behind bars.
During the course of the altercation, Murray sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. Yet, his accomplice remains at large, with the identity of the third suspect still unknown.
Public sentiment surrounding the ordeal is resoundingly supportive of the homeowner as evidenced by comments on WMBF’s Facebook page.
As one commenter expressed with palpable relief: “Good,” they wrote. “They got what they deserved. The homeowner should get an award.”
Another commenter echoed this sentiment, stating: “Justified,” and continued, “You can’t count on the justice system to lock them up for long enough; they just repeat offend so sometimes you just have to take it into your own hands and defend you life and property.”
The idea of fortune favoring the burglars was also raised by one user who mused: “They ought to consider themselves lucky they got to ride with the police instead of the coroner.”
In a similar vein, another individual declared: “Good! If you’re big enough to enter someone’s property with ill-intent, you better be ready to face what’s in there.”
While the incident was undoubtedly a harrowing one, it serves as a stark reminder of the crucial importance of personal and property security, and the lengths to which homeowners may have to go to protect what is theirs.

Good job. Now next time, if there is a next time, shoot a little straighter. That way the taxpayers don’t have to feed and house them for the rest of their rotten lives.

Yes, he was definitely justified. When thieves realize a homeowner will protect their property with deadly force it may deter them from even attempting it. They are lucky it wasn’t me as I would have shot to ensure they stayed down.

These thieves don’t realize that they’re messing their whole life, who’s going to hire them? Think before you do something like this it’s not worth it, its better if you decide to have a decent job and live within your means.

I myself in 1992 confronted 3 people hand pushing my car out of my apt. Complex parking lot. I shot and killed one the other 2 got away. With one of then driving away in a car with a chain hanging from the bumper. They had tried to steal my car on 6 different occasions. They were going to tow my car off. This was in San Antonio ,TX.
Dumb-o-crat town.
Guess who got sentenced for voluntary manslaughter. And the police even proved that the person I killed had a mag-lite in his hand. That at night when this took place looked like a sawed off shotgun.
So watch out for the stinking DUMB-O-CRATS !!

A perfect example for the need of gun control. Press the trigger back and you will have much better control of your gun and shots on target. Now go to the range and practice.
