Chicago Officer’s Gun Pointing Incident Sparks Controversy, Internal Probe

A recent incident involving a Chicago police officer pointing a firearm at spectators during a street takeover has sparked internal probing within the police department, according to WGN-TV. The incident, caught on video, took place early on a Monday morning at the intersection of West 59th Street and South Pulaski Road in the city’s West Lawn neighborhood on the southwest side.

Spectators were observed in the video participating in the street takeover, with vehicles seen drifting through the intersection. Despite the disruptive event, no arrests were made in relation to the street takeover during the Monday morning incident, police informed WGN-TV.

The footage further reveals a Chicago police transport truck passing through the intersection. An officer can be seen pointing a firearm from the passenger window, WGN reported. This act elicited a barrage of derogatory slurs and insults from the crowd gathered at the street takeover.

WGN’s video report, available on their platform, includes the full clip showing the unlawful street takeover and the responding officer pointing a weapon.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) confirmed to WGN that it has initiated a review into the incident alongside the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Internal Affairs.

WGN also highlighted reactions from netizens on their Facebook page who, instead of directing their ire towards the firearm-brandishing officer, expressed frustration with the lawless crowd.

One commenter defended the officer, stating, “Leave her alone!! She’s protecting herself and her partner! Go after the real criminals!” Another user suggested a more extreme response, saying, “Should have started double tapping. That would’ve dispersed the crowd rapidly.”

One user questioned the seeming double standard, querying, “Did I miss something? It’s OK that there is a street takeover by a bunch of thugs, but a cop can’t show a gun? WTF. That’s why Chicago is getting worse and worse. Grew up there, and don’t care if I ever see the city again.”

This incident and the internal investigation underway is a reflection of the ongoing struggle between law enforcement and public perception in Chicago.

Maybe if Chicago got serious and started charging, arresting and throwing the Criminals in their City this type incident wouldn’t keep happening. A novel idea would be to arrest and incarcerate every single criminal in that once beautiful and safe city. Now it’s a Lawless jungle where the police are told from the Mayor’s office what they can and can’t arrest for. It would be a fantastic idea if the voters would actually vote for change and get rid of the Criminals they have elected

The officer didn’t shoot, she only showed the gun and it alarmed some to disperse. The video shows one guy even running after the police truck! They don’t seem to be afraid of police.

I grew up there in the sixties and seventies, nice place to be from. Half the people I knew had no problem with theft or drugs.

It’s Chicago which is nothing but a trash run city which has been going on for a long time. The officer had the right to be wary of the trash.

the SCOTUS, namely Amy Coney Barrett said, that “we” need to prove we were harmed, IF the gov’t. and big tech CONSPIRED to sensor or cancel our 1st amendment rights. So IF it is good for the 1st, IT must also apply to the 2nd. BRANDISHING a firearm is no longer illegal, UNLESS the one who is stealing or threatening is harmed. IF the criminal activity escalates, or continues, then the putting down, of the animal or savage is justified. I doubt anyone can be harmed, by a property owner “displaying” or “brandishing” a gun. But there is a low IQ sheeople that have been brainwashed by an evil gov’t. in Amerika. Sadly We the People are FORCED, as slaves to pay for this. RED states need to separate from this evil empire…. NOW !
