University of Chicago Student Disarms Thug in Daring Daylight Confrontation
In a recent act of bravery, a female student at the University of Chicago managed to foil an alleged armed robbery, with the entire incident being captured on security footage. The student, who has identified herself only as Maddi, was returning to her apartment at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when a masked man seemed to confront her, apparently brandishing a firearm.
“I was just walking home from class and I see a man in a mask approach me,” Maddi told WLS-TV. “And he kind of comes towards me, and I think to myself, ‘Just keep walking,’ but then we have an altercation.”
As the confrontation escalated, Maddi tried to engage the help of her fellow students. Unfortunately, one student merely sat by, absorbed in watching the unfolding drama rather than stepping in to assist.
In the heat of the moment, Maddi reached out and seized the man’s weapon.
“I’m able to get my hands on the gun,” she recounted, “and remove the magazine on the gun, and I toss it into the bush.”
The assailant turned towards her but Maddi managed to escape. A few moments later, he returned in a dark-colored sedan attempting to retrieve the discarded gun magazine. Both he and the car’s driver managed to escape before authorities arrived.
In reflection, Maddi warned other people against imitating her actions. She stated, “I think fight definitely kicked in, but I’m in no way advocating of resisting armed robbery. I think it was really not the right decision looking back on it.”
University of Chicago Police reported other robberies occurring on the same day as Maddi’s incident. Maddi’s only hope is for these criminals to be apprehended.
“I don’t blame the campus … I don’t blame the bystander … I don’t blame the police … they did a great job,” Maddi asserted. “I think it’s just finding the people who did this attack, because they will do it again.”
Other University of Chicago students also expressed their worries about the rising tide of crime. Junior Michel Angelo Pagan shared his thoughts: “Normally, it doesn’t happen on campus. It happens to people walking back to apartments off campus, so, the fact that it’s getting closer and closer to the central hub of where students are is very concerning.”
In response to this incident, local law enforcement assured the public they are actively seeking suspects and will be intensifying patrols in the area.

I find it alarming that that idiot just sat on the ground while this was going on. And there was another one adjacent to him Doing nothing.
